A woman I met a few years ago was wearing what I considered "a really cool looking" cross, and I asked her about it. She told me it was called a Diaconal Cross, of the Diaconal Ministry of the Lutheran Church.
I've since made many of these crosses, most of them for those entering the Diaconal Ministry. This one is a larger cross, on a longer chain, first requested by a customer for wear during Mass. So, I'm thinking more of you out there may need a larger version....and here it is:
I've made this larger Diaconal cross with 10 gauge sterling silver, it's about 3 1/8 inches in length, give or take a bit, and approx. 2.5mm thick, with a width of approx. 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches.
Sterling rolo chain is 2.9mm and 30 inches long.
Cross is one uninterrupted line, resembling an infinity symbol. "The uninterrupted line in represents the integral connection and dynamic flow between ministry in and of the church in relationship with God's world." Simple, beautiful, understated.
